Katie has extensive teaching experience, working with children aged birth through high school. She has worked as a special education teacher for students with emotional disabilites and behavior disorders, learning disabilities, autism and ADHD. Katie has also served as a teacher in the general education classroom.
While earning her Masters degree, Katie worked as a school counselor in the elementary and high school settings in Indianapolis. In the school setting, she lead group counseling sessions for students who had experienced loss through death and divorce. She also volunteered as a facilitator with Brooke’s Place for Grieving Young People in Indianapolis. Now that her children are older, she is looking forward to serving on the crisis response team at Annie’s Hope Bereavement Center in St. Louis.
